Israel Resurrected

PROPHECY > Israel's Future
Israel Resurrected, Israel Restored
by Your servant, Dan L Baxley

The Division – First we need to understand that Israel and Judah are a separate people, a people that our Savior is going to Unite one day.  The Northern Tribes were called Israel and the Southern Tribes (states) were called Judah.  When Israel disappeared into the northern hemisphere a few from the norther tribes returned to Judah, preferring to close to the worship of YaHWeH at Jerusalem.  Judah became a mixture of the tribes, Benjamin, Levi and Judah being the largest and most influential.

We need to understand a little about the complex makeup of the people of Israel. We call them all Jews today but it is much more than that. The complexity in the divisions of the Tribes, the spite, North and South, the captivity periods, the seeming disappearance of the Northern ten tribes, the Roman dispersions, not once but twice. In many ways the term “Jew” means as much about a religion as it does a people, but this term is used generically in reference to all people of Israel. As a religion it is as divided as the Christian religions, with sects and cults, customs that don’t agree in dress or manners. Still, our Bible, accepted as coming from our Creator, tell us that the whole House of Israel is going to one day be resurrected. More on that later, for now let’s have a brief look at this anomaly we call Israel.
Israel is to be restored as well as the tribe of Judah, once again the two separate ancient divisions, the Northern tribes divided from the Southern tribe bound up together as one (Eze 37:16-17). The world at large sees the modern state of Israel as the Jews occupying what some refer to as Israel. It is taught by most Christian Churches that the Israel of today, in the news almost daily, is the Israel of Bible prophecy, this is only partly true. The fact is most of the Israelite people in modern Israel today are of the tribes that made up the southern portion of the Kingdom of Israel, Judah, along with three other tribes, all called Jews as they are known today. The House of Israel is all of the tribes; all of the people that entered the promise land, all twelve tribes are the HOUSE.
Twelve Tribes or Thirteen
With the tribe of Joseph receiving a double portion through his two sons Ephraim and Manasseh there are actually thirteen tribes, and you could count even higher than that if you count in the division of the Priesthood (more on that later). The nation of Israel eventually divided north and south. The Northern Kingdom called “Israel” and the Southern Kingdom, Judah. Judah, at the time of separation, amounted to four tribes: The Levites, a priestly family in service to the Temple at Jerusalem, although they possessed no land as such, were given thirteen towns and adjoining pasture land in the southern province. The four tribes in the south, encompassing Jerusalem and the Temple were Judah, Benjamin, and Simeon – three sons of Leah, Rachel’s handmaid and Benjamin, son of Rachel. The tribe of Benjamin, a tribe that always seemed to be at odds with the other tribes, finding sanctuary around Jerusalem and being closer to Judah than his brother Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, Benjamin’s tribal nephews, located to his immediate North. Next is the Tribe of Simeon positioned to the southern boundary, and of course, Judah the dominate figure of these people occupying the area that housed the city of Jerusalem and the Temple, and the Kingdom throne.  Judah is seen as a composite of these four tribes, or clans, while the remainder occupied the Northern territory.  These clans of the North became known as Israel, the "Lost Ten Tribes", as they came to be known.

All Jews are Israelites but not all Israelites are Jews – the total “House of Israel” is all of the people, all of the tribes, the northern and the southern tribes combined. Judah, technically is representative of only four tribes, mention before, the total of the whole house of Israel was fathered by one man, two wives and two handmaidens. Rachel’s handmaid, Bilhah and Leah’s handmaid, Zilpah, each mothering two tribes each.   Dan and Naphtali, sons of Bilhah and Gad and Asher, sons of Zilpah and all four of these named tribes went with the breakaway Northern tribes. There was a small mixture of Israelite (Northern 10 tribes) people defected from the North at the time of the break away, preferring to stay with the original Temple Order located in Jerusalem, but this was a very small minority, but still, a representative of some of the Northern tribes.
Eventually the Northern Tribes were overrun by the Assyrians, taken captive, removed from the land into slavery by the Assyrians and their cities turned over to another people.  The rise of the Babylonian Empire replaced and displacing the Assyrians, ultimately leading to the dispersion of the Northern Tribes along with the Assyrians, into the uncharted parts of the world, mostly the area we call Europe, their identity, for the most part, becoming lost to history. There seems to be some historical evidence for the mysterious appearance of those called Celts with the Israelite people. The Celtic history, however, seems to come from the time of Israel’s leaving Egypt. About this time the Celts seemed to appear in Europe. They are a mystery people, seemingly appearing out of nowhere. Their legends, however, paint a picture of having crossed the southern seas (Mediterranean). Clearly these were not Egyptian. What may make sense is that these people, either a mixture of some Israelites and other slaves took the opportunity to escape Egypt under the on slot of the plagues.   At any rate, when we examine the linage of those called Israel or descendants of Israel they are a mixture of people.   We are not told what race the handmaidens, Bilhah and Zilpah were. Each hand maid was given to Rachel and Leah by their father when they left their home land to go with Jacob. It is quite possible these two handmaids were also Hebrews as indentured servants. This would make all of the sons of these four women from the same blood lines.
The Jews, the four-tribe union, Judah, Levi, Benjamin, and Simeon has always maintained its identity under the banner of Judah and are the composite of what we see as the state of Modern Israel. It is no accident that the territory Modern Israel occupies today is basically the same land area the tribe of Judah, along with Simeon and Benjamin, and Levi occupied before they were taken captive by the Babylonian Empire and later dispersed by the Roman Empire many, many years later. The tribe of Levi possessed no claim to any territory as did the other tribes and were obviously assimilated into the other three tribes, as were a mixture of their descendants from the Northern Tribes that stayed with Judah when the split occurred, as well as the Kohathites of the priestly, kin to the tribe of Levi. When taken by the Assyrians (Salmaneser V, pretty much putting an end to the Israelite Northern Tribes around 725 B.C.). The Assyrians were eventually displaced by the Babylonian Empire and were pushed out of the territory they held and in this dispersion the people of the Northern tribes went as well.
One might assume that some intermixing with Assyrian blood would only be natural as both groups escape the oppression of the new power of Babylon. The Assyrians were a fierce people and enjoyed being masters of the Fertile Crescent, an area that swept from Persia (We call Iran today) over Babylon (the Area we know as Iraq today) up into the north (Turkey of today) falling south over the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea to engulf Egypt.  There was one small hold out in the middle of the Assyrian Empire, Jerusalem and the immediate area around Jerusalem amounting to the state of Judah.  Not for lack of trying, at this time in history, but by a miraculous defeat (2 Kings 19:32-37) Jerusalem and Judah are saved from the fierce Assyrians for a time.
The next Super Power to rise up and displace Assyria would be the Babylon Empire under King Nebuchadnezzar II. Around 597 B.C. Jerusalem was taken and the Temple was torn down.  By this time no one is speaking of Israel, the Northern Tribes, they are gone and seem to have disappeared from history.  The Babylonian Empire defeats the Assyrians and the Egyptians and over a period of about 20 years pulled the people of Judah out of their home land.  Daniel and some other young men of Jerusalem were taken to Babylon in 605 B.C, and the Temple sacked in 597 B.C. then a mini revolt by Zedekiah causing the Babylonians to return putting an end to their Jewish problem in 586 B.C.  Zedekiah watched as his sons were killed in front of him and then he was made blind by his captures but allowed to live out his days at the kings table.
Israel Today and Tomorrow
Okay, enough of a history lesson, not my strong suit, but it needs to be understood, even in a minor way, in order to understand the prophetic future of Israel and Judah apart from one another. Especially today when everyone is calling the Jewish nation, Modern Israel, as though this is the “House of Israel” and it is not, it is but a small portion of the “Greater Israel”. There is a recognized division; however, a division that will one day be healed as the two will be brought back into a single union, not by men but by God Himself.
(Jer 23:3-4) I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number. I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing," declares the YHWH.
(Jer 23:4-6) The days are coming, declares the YHWH, "when I will raise up to David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. In His days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: YHWH Our Righteousness.
(Jer 23:7-8) So then, the days are coming, declares the LORD (YHWH), "when people will no longer say, 'As surely as the LORD (YHWH) lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,' but they will say, 'As surely as the LORD (YHWH) lives, who brought the descendants of Israel up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.' Then they will live in their own land." MKJV
Do we see this today?  Some say we do but look; this speaks of the whole of Israel not some little patch work of a secular population pulled from different parts of the World.  The “Branch raised up” is recognized as YaHshua, but look – His day has not come yet, He is not ruling over Israel today, but that time is coming but is not here yet. This is speaking of a people that will call on Him, and will see Him as their God, not like today where 90% of the Jewish populations, within Modern Israel, claim no god at all – this was reported by the Jerusalem Post some years ago.
The House of David Resurrected in the Flesh
We see from the above quoted verses a “Righteous Branch” is raised up from the Line of King David. This is, of course, recognized as our Savior, but not only Our Savior but the Savior of Judah also. The context is certainly speaking of when the Messiah has returned to rule and to save not only Judah but Israel as well. Israel, all of Israel united and “brought back to life” to meet our Lord Yahshua, not only our Savior but theirs also. Just as we read in Jeremiah, they will no longer be remembering the day they were (as a people) brought up out of Egypt but will be remembering the day YaHshua brought them all back, the “whole house of Israel”.
King David will sit again as a ruler over Israel, a “resurrected Israel and Judah”, united as one. His whole house will be raised to live again as you will read in the following verses.
(Ezekiel 37:24-28) “My servant David will be king over them (Israel), and they will all have one shepherd (the Messiah). They will follow my Laws and be careful to keep my decrees. They will live in the land I gave to my servant Jacob, the land where your fathers lived. They and their children and their children’s children will live there forever, and David my servant will be their prince forever. I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant. I will establish them and increase their numbers, and I will put my sanctuary among them forever. My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people. Then the nations will know that I YHWH (the LORD) make Israel holy, when my sanctuary is among them forever.” NIV (Read Revelation 21- 22)
This is an astounding quote from the pages of your own Bible especially when you consider this was written more than four hundred years after King David’s death. The timing of the above quote can be placed at the time of our Messiah’s return to this Earth.   Notice, “… I will put my sanctuary among them forever”.
“I did not see a temple in the city because the Lord God Almighty (The Father) and the Lamb (The Messiah, Yahshua) are its temple.” (Revelation 21:22, NIV)
This verse goes with a full description found in Chapter twenty-two of the new heaven and new earth and it can be seen that the “sanctuary” is the Father and the Son. There is to be a restoring of Israel and it will not come by the acts of men but by the power of the Living God. He is the sanctuary and in the finish of all prophecy the Father and the Son will be the Sanctuary. HOWEVER, the period of Israel’s physical resurrection and being totally brought back to the land will be directly after YaHshua/YHWH’s return as King of Kings. I repeat – as KING of KINGS.
“YaHWeH will be king over the whole earth, on that day there will be one YaHWeH, and His Name the only name.” (Zechariah 14:8)
“It will be inhabited (Jerusalem); never again will it be destroyed. Jerusalem will be secure. This is the plague with which YaHWeH will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem. (verses 11-12)
Read this whole chapter it is fascinating. The Mighty YHWH/YaHshua is going to strike the nations with a plague of horror and fear and Judah is not going to escape this event. “…Judah too will fight at Jerusalem”. This makes it plain that descendants of Judah are to be located at Jerusalem, as they are to this day. This would have been a word of prophecy had you read it prior to the Jews returning to their home land – remember, not all Israel. Who would have thought, before World War II, that the Jews would be able to get back to the Land of Palestine, let alone establish for themselves a modern nation? This is a great word of prophecy from the past, fulfilled, a partial fulfillment, really, a partial fulfillment setting up for the things still to come. Modern Israel is not the Israel that is to live at peace under the protection of the Almighty – today’s Israel does not rely on the God of the Bible to protect them, but in stead, make false treaties and deals with other nations, nations that cannot be trusted, nations that want to see all of Israel dead.  The Modern Israelis rely on their own leaders as opposed to YaHWeH, the God that found, that fathered them.  But the day is coming when all of the treaties collapse, and they will have to trust in YaHWeH/YaHshua, or perish.  A day is coming when the survivors will call on Him and be saved.  The leaders of Israel will making treaties with nations bent on wiping them out – but that day is not this day -- modern Israel is relying on their own diplomacy and treaties with men for their protection.  There is a time coming when all of this will change.  Notice, the following prophetic words say, survivors, indicating something happening, before this altered reality.
“The survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, YaHWeH Almighty, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.” (Zechariah 14:16, NIV)
“The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.” (Revelation 22:24, NIV)
“If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, YaHWeH Almighty, they will have no rain. If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain. The YaHWeH will bring on them the plague He inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.” (Zechariah 14:17-18)
When the Kingdom of David is established with David again sitting on the physical throne over the resurrected Israel (Zech 12) and the Sanctuary of the Father and Lamb is established in Jerusalem the “nations” will be required to come up to worship the King of Kings and to and pay tribute. The Feast of Tabernacles is the time of recognizing the Millennium rule of the Messiah and a time to bring him a monetary tribute of your gain. The Feast begins at the end of the harvest of the crops, after the harvest is taken into storage, then the Feast and this Feast is celebrated over a seven day period. These verses leave no wiggle room for their timing and place – this will be at the very time the Messiah, YaHshua rules from Jerusalem – a time when the people of Israel (all of the people) will be raised in the “flesh” and be “restored” as proof to all of the Word of the Living God.
Whole House of Israel
Make no mistake, Israel, the “whole House”, meaning Judah too, is going to be brought back to life in the flesh. At this time the Saints of the Messiah, that would be believers in YaHshua as Messiah, are looking forward to the resurrection not of flesh but the “quickening” into a spiritual beings and eternal life. The house of Israel, however, will be raised back into the flesh and be given a new attitude, a new heart. You see, YaHshua, their creator wants them to succeed. His plan has never been to destroy the House of Israel, but ultimately save them. There is more than this one witness to this event. Ezekiel is given the vision of this raising of Israel back to life, in the flesh.
Ezekiel Vision
Ezekiel is taken by spirit into a valley full of bones and then watched as these bones had the flesh restored to them. YaHWeH, the Creator God is able to restore what has been lost or what has turned to dust or dissolved in salt water, He has that power and is going to bring Israel back – He, “gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were” (Romans 4:17). In other words, He can call things into being that did not exist before as well as raise the dead back to life; the latter should be much easier than the former, if there is anything to be compared hard or easy for Him?
Then He said to me: ‘Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off. (Ezekiel 38:11)
Yes indeed, things look hopeless for the House of Israel. Their history is filled with rebellion against their Creator. They are a supreme example of misplaced righteousness and rebellion against the only true, Living God (Romans 10:1-3). Israel’s failures are an example for us to learn from (1 Corinthians 10:5-11). YHWH did not allow Israel and Judah’s rebellion to go unchecked. He is not done with them, He is determined to make something out of their failure that will point to the only true God – so there can be no doubt -- YH and His Son, YaHshua are the only true and Living God. Israel is coming back to life, back to the flesh to face their Savior whom they crucified (Zech 12:9-10).
“Therefore prophecy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign YaHWeH says: O my people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. (Eze 38: 12)
This verse demonstrates that the valley of bones is not just about the Israelites that have died in the land of Israel but the world over. The “bringing” back to the land would indicate this, the people of the House of all Israel; this includes the people of Judah that we call the “Jews”. They are going to be gathered up, united, no longer divided or hidden and will all have the opportunity to meet the Messiah in all of His Glory and come face to face with their sin.
“Then you, my people, will know that I am YaHWeH, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. I will put My Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your land. Then you will know that I YaHWeH have spoken, and I have done it, declares YaHWeH. (Eze 38:13-14)
Wow, how wonderful is that? If you will read your bible with this knowledge tucked into your head you will see scriptures in nearly every book pertaining to the return of Israel to the land, a land “given” them by the YaHWeH. Believe me, this land is not the small Modern Israel seen in today’s news. Certainly the people of Judah had to be in Jerusalem for certain prophecies to begin to reveal themselves, but Modern Israel is not the “House of Israel” that the Great Creator God is going to bring back to the Land. Modern Israel is mainly the work of men and with the help of other nations the Jews were delivered back to a small area of the land given to the children of Abraham, the land of Jacob.
The Jews are a small representation of the whole House of Israel. The modern Jews are mainly of three tribes of the House of Israel, the other ten tribes have lost their identity but the Creator God knows who they are. Also, there is no dispute that thousands upon thousands of the House of Israel have died and turned to bones and dust in the “land”. While Jerusalem (Yerusalayim, or YH’s peace) is destined to be the capitol of the whole earth the “land of Israel”, as given to Abraham, will encompass a far greater area of real estate than is seen today.
Jerusalem, The Name -- 2008
      (Update article below - 2018 )
Note: The name “Jerusalem” was originally seen as “Urusalim” and it is suggested that it meant “the foundation of the god, Salem”. It is seen from the earliest writings (2400 BC) as Salim and later, around the 19th century BC in Egyptian texts as “Rushalimum”. Genesis 14:18 mentions the King of Salem and Hebrews 7:1 mentions the King of Salem, so we can see that this name is a very old name indeed and the fact of this is supported by the New Testament reference. Understanding that the “J” in Jerusalem should be the Hebrew “Y” we can see the Name of YHWH added to the front of this ancient name – Y’ rusalem, or Y’ Urusalim or Y’ Rushalimum. It wasn’t until after the Bible had pretty much been finished when Rabbinic and Christian writings began to refer to this name as meaning “City of Peace”. (1 king 11:36 the place He choose to put His Name). Further information on this can be found in Harper’s Bible Dictionary and Eerdman’s Dictionary of the Bible.  (The Problem with the teachings of these and other Biblical sources is that they do not always agree with the Scripture.  Consider Paul's writing to the Hebrews in the Book of Hebrews 7:2 where Paul makes reference of the "king of Salem" translated "King of Peace".  This is a remarkable statement from Paul, well before the authorities of knowledge gave us the meaning of this translation -- city of Jerusalem, meaning, city of Peace. Paul reveals this truth hundreds of years before its final acceptance).
Since offering up and explanation for the Name of the City, the City our Creator chose to put His Name, new information has come to light, new information that proves His Name is imprinted on this City.  The article below is from BAR magazine, January/February 2019
