YaHshua or Yeshua?

His Name
Yeshua vs YaHshua -- Ye'Shua
Something is missing
The Mystery of the Missing H

by your servant, Dan L Baxley
June, 2014 -- Update: July, 2020

I have been contacted on several occasions by those knowledgeable in Biblical Hebrew.  I appreciate that any of these learned men bothered to write and inform me how I was mistaken and that the name YaHshua is not in the Holy Bible.  But, they told me, Yehoshua is, but not YaHshua.  So, is that true?  They are the authority, one would suppose, after all the Name YaHshua is missing that one, single letter, o.  Some, however say that missing letter should be a u, as in, YaHushua.  But, each of the three scholars, said the name found in the Hebrew Bible and transliterated into English is, YeHoshua.

That aside for a minute, why do these scholars and so many others seem to support the word, yeshua, as His name in the New Covenant writings?  If YaHshua is not found in the Bible because it is missing the middle letter, a letter inserted by the scribes, then why are they not telling the Hebrew roots people and the Messianic and Christian teachers to quit using the word yeshua as His name?  Yeshua, is missing more than just one letter -- unless, of course, in the Old Testament it is not used as a name.  I mean, it can be, perhaps, but for the most part the word, yeshua, means salvation.  You could say that your yeshua is your Lord and that would be the same as saying, your salvation is your lord.  Again, this article should set all of this upright and in tune with the truth exposing this great Deception, that has been perpetrated on the Christian community for hundreds of years -- no, two thousand years, nearly.

Yeshua, or YaHshua?
Having touched on this in a previous article it should be made clear, the name YaHshua, as printed, is not found in the Hebrew Scriptures, which was pointed out, to me, so often, but guess what, neither is Yeshua, as printed, the term, Yeshua, is not found in the New Testament as all.  It might be found in the Jewish or Hebrew translation but as, Y'shua, not Yeshua.  Wait a minute, where did the letter e go?   Some, who are able to read Hebrew, say that the name Yeshua is found in the Bible but if we are arguing over missing letters in our Savior's Birth Name, then, what sense does that make?  This will be covered in more detail as you go through this article.

You see, the name, Jeshua or Yeshua, is a mis-transliteration found in the modern Hebrew not the ancient writings or fragments of the ancient Hebrew -- we are not talking about Modern Hebrew but closer to the original, ancient Hebrew, from which most, if not all of the Hebrew Translations, today, are supposed to have originated (I know, the Hebrew Books are mostly translations from the Greek Septuagint -- new flash for some) whose transliterations (not translations) all have missing letters. And, of course, one dares suggest the Holy Name of their God, are Not in the Bible.  For example: YHWH, is the transliteration, into English from the four Hebrew Letters.  Yet, we see this Holy Name with added letters, letters that do not belong -- YHWH to YaHWeH or as some say, Yehweh.  Why, then, would so many start pointing the finger at our Savior's Birth Name and say it is not in the Bible, too many or not enough letters?  I suppose, if someone were to come along and present a completely different name and put that different name in place of the original name, no on would mind -- think about it -- that is exactly what has happened.  His Holy Birth Name, YaHshua, or for the sake of argument, YeHoshua, and replaced it with JESUS.  Not only are letters missing but letters have been changed -- YaHshua or Yehoshua, becomes, JESUS?  It is not just the appearance, in English or any other language, it is the pronunciation -- they are totally different and if anyone tries to tell you that the 400 year old name, Jesus, is the equivalent, they are lying to you, whether they realize it or not, they are talking to you under a cloud of deception.

On top of that, in Jewish literature and thinking, there is a bias toward the pronouncing of the Name of their God, more precisely, YHWH (YaHWeH). They object to any association with this Name, which many have gone to calling the HASHEM. Hashem, means, Ha, The, Shem, Name -- The Name or HaShem.  Concerning the Christian Messiah, the modern Rabbis are happy to agree with their Messianic brothers in the use the term "yeshua" as a name, as do many in the Christian teachers who have come to nibble around the edges of Judaism, realizing that the Savior they profess was prophesied to come from the tribe of Judah, and so, born a Jew.  Some use the term, Yeshua, interchangeably with the totally bogus name, Jesus. Originally the name Jesus was, Iesvs, pronounced very closely to how ISIS is pronounced and some in the Latin world of priests and teachers use this pronunciation to this day.  And they have a right to do just that because it is from that Latin name, IESVS, is the exact name the English translators derived their own version.  Again, more on this later.

This study article is a challenge and a warning, a serious warning, as we continue in this study.  Let us keep in mind how important this subject is, as we answer the challenging question and heed the warning.  Put on your Spiritual cap and some gold Spirit, common sense.  Can everybody be wrong?  Yes, as you will see, and more.

This warning is a prophetic one, a prophetic word from our Savior, YaHshua.  The warning, in its original form was not seen as a prophetic statement, only YaHshua could have seen how His Name would be altered or replaced and He gave this warning --

(Mat 24:5)  For many shall come in My Name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

(Mat 7:22)  Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works?
(Mat 7:23)  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, you that work iniquity.

Now, comes the challenge --

(Pro 30:4-6) Who has ascended up into heaven, and descended? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has bound the waters in his garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His son's Name, if you know? "Every word of God is flawless. He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Don't you add to His words, lest He reprove you, and you be found a liar.

It pleases the devote Jew not to repeat the Name of YHWH, so they they substitute another name, term, title, or saying -- adonay or adonia, which in the English equivalent is the term lord, or master.  This is the same word of choice for replacing His Name in the Old Testament English translation, LORD in Caps is used as a substitute for His Holy Name YHWH (YaHWeH), exchanging four letters for four letters -- replacing His Name, not only in the New Testament but in the Old as well. Jewish scholars and devout religious fanatics and Christian Biblical experts, freely substitute titles and other phrases in place of His Holy Name. By doing so they inadvertently (or on purpose) treat the Name of God they claim to be theirs, with the greatest disrespect, Profaning His Name by refusing to make His Name known, by refusing to "glorify" Him by His Name. They do not call on His Name in this era and refuse to allow others to, but this will one day change -- Among the Christian translators it is said to be a custom or a tradition of the fathers before them, that they follow -- the early father's of the Holy Word took away and added to His Word and so do those who came after and then witness against themselves by using this excuse.  Truly, read just about any Preface of any translation, even the JPS Bible and you will see this very thing, and they admit to it -- No big deal, we are just following what they did before.

(Joel 2:32) And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the Name of YHWH shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as YHWH has said, and in the remnant whom YHWH shall call. (Ps 116:13)

Joel's wording might suggest a time when His Holy Name is being ignored or abandoned and Joel is reminding the read that this is not how it is supposed to be and that to find deliverance you will have to call on His Holy Name.  What, it is only what is in your heart that counts?  Think again, it is more than that, because what is in men and women's heart is not righteousness or goodness, just as our Lord said, "There is no one good, no not one" --  Romans 3:10

Act 2:21  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved.

(Act 4:12)  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other Name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

(Rom 10:9) ...that if you will confess with your mouth that YaHshua is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

(Rom 10:13) For, "Whoever will call on the Name of the Lord will be saved."

In their righteousness they do not see the error of covering The Name, sealing it up, out of sight, out of mind -- those opposed to using and restoring His Birth Name, to their own confession deliberately trying to keep sincere people away from their salvation?  Just like you cannot have the Father without the Son or the Son without the Father, neither can you have the Son, our Savior, apart from His Holy Name.

There is a command they, as the chosen people, all Israel, to observe and keep -- they are not to call on or mention the names of other gods -- the gods of the Gentiles (Joshua 23:7).  So, what do they do? In their own rightesouness they do God one better, they stop calling His Holy Name, and following the tradtions of men use other terms, like "HaShem" (The Name) or the Greek influenced, "Adonai" (Lord, in the Englsih).  How is this obeying the command directed toward false gods? They and others, are quick to quote this command from the OT when it comes to using the Name for our Savior but in a like manner they also hide, or will not pronounce the Name of their own God -- they end up treating His glorious Name as though it were of heathen origin -- the are wrong in both case -- In their own righteousness they do just the opposite of what they were and are commanded. How do I know all of this? First by reading a lot of their writings, second by debating with several of the Orthodox and Ultra Orthodox Jews on this subject. They have a zeal for G-d, or HaShem, as some like to call Him (HaShem is to say, The Name), other the LORD, but in following their righteous zeal they actually ignore Scripture and cause others to do the same. I have been told plainly, that it has never been the job of Israel or the Jews to proclaim His Name (HASHEM) to the world.

I have been told, informed, more like it, by Orthodox and Unltra Orthodox Jewish students and others that Israel was never commissioned to declare His Holy Name to the World.  Please, the Old Covenant writings are full of declaration in His Holy Name and about His Name.  But, being a stern, dedicated iota and dot lawyer, perhaps it is possible to hear only what you want to hear.  Hear this, hear what is said, what our Creator, YaHWeH has said just the opposite from what is taught by those in the ranks of the super righteous -- not just among the Jewish side of things but among the Christians as well -- all are guilty, but you do not have to be, you can make this correction and begin to read your Bible as they refuse to read or see it -- they are the blind leading the blind and heading for the ditch.

(Isa 48:20) Go you (Isarael) forth from Babylon, flee you from the Chaldeans; with a voice of singing declare you, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say you: "YHWH has redeemed His servant Jacob."  JPS  (Jewish Publication Society) (Go back and read Joel 2:32 again)

(Joshua 23:7) That you come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:
(They are not to make mention of other god, other names, but they do just that while denying His Name, using any substitute possible to avoid calling on the God of all Creation -- this becomes a type of Idolatry -- Ezk 13:4)

(Deu 10:20) You shall fear the LORD (YHWH) your God; Him shall you serve, and to Him shall you cleave (cing, adhere), and swear by His Name.

(1Ch 16:8) Give thanks unto YHWH call upon His Name, make known his deeds among the people.

(Psa 96:2-3) Sing unto the YHWH, bless His Name; shew forth His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the heathen, His wonders among all people.

Isa 12:1-2 In that day you will say: "I will praise you, O' YHWH. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. Surely God is my y'shua; I will trust and not be afraid. YH YHWH, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation (yeshua)."  (YaH YaHWeH)

(Special Note: "Yeshua", is not a name, but a statement in Hebrew which in the English is to say, salvation, and notice too, in that verse, the double statement of HIs Name, YaH YaHWeH -- not forgetting that YaHshua said He came in His Father's Name -- a Name given to Him revealed to us -- John 5:43 and John 17:11, 17:26, Luke 10:22, and Mt 11:27.  The Word Yeshua is found 78 times in the Hebrew and not once is it used as a name, under the Strong's and the Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew Dictionary this term is translated as salvation, health, help, save, saving, and deliver .  In most occurrences it is allied to YaHWeH and His Name.  My salvation, or my salvation is YaHWeH, the context of where it is found is in every case pointing to or toward the God of Israel, YaHWeH.  Some in the Jewish communities will use, Y'shua, and say that they are not discarding the H as other in the Christian communities are doing, but merely using the hyphen to note that they have removed the H out of respect for His Holy Name and that the reader, properly instructed, knows to read this as if the H were still there.  In this is found the admission that they know what His Name is, and it has never been lost as so many Christian scholars and pastors have been teaching.)

So, Israel has dropped the ball, it seems, instead of making His Name known, blessing His Name, declaring His Glory among the heathen by calling out His Name, by introducing His Name to the world, and making His Identity known to the nations, what have they done? Nothing, they refuse to use His Name among their own people let alone among the nations, except for some mental gymnastics, dropping letters here and adding letter there, but only in their minds. Many of the Ultra Orthodox lash out at anyone daring to say His Name aloud or to expose His Name to anyone outside of their own clique.
Not only that, many of those with such pent-up righteousness, if given the power as rulers, or enough authority, would stone anyone daring to speak His Name.  There is an exception, of course, for the High Priest, three times a year at the special High Sabbath Feast -- But where is this High Priest among the Othodox and Ultra Orthodox Jew today? No Temple not High Priest, and there is their problem -- No High Priest bearing the Ephod, the Mitre, and the Girdle of gold, items the High Priest is to wear in representing Israel before the Ark and the Altar of YaHWeH?  Where is the Temple?  Where is the Ark of the Covenant?  Where is the Altar?  No wonder the Ultra side is so frustrated.  They refuse the man who came in our Savior's Name, and what that Name suggests, and doing so they remain under the curse of the Law (Torah) twisting it or hacking it up and trying to make it say something else, all to avoid applying, or using the One True Name of our Creator, their Creator, in writing or by word of mouth. And what is He going to do about ending this profaning of His Holy Name? Just read --

(Eze 36:22-23)  Therefore say unto the House of Israel, Thus says Lord YaHWeH; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for My Holy Name's sake, which you have profaned among the heathen, wherever you went.  And I will sanctify My Great Name, which was profaned among the heathen, which you have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am YaHWeH, says the Lord YaHWeH, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.   [Read also all of Isaiah, chapter 52  a very short chapter, a Prophecy for Israel]

(Special note: The prophetic outcome of Isarel/Judah and Jerusalem will prove just who is in control and will reveal the True God of all creation -- if they will not exalt His Name, His Identity among the nations, then He will and is -- (John 12:28)  YaHshua Said, Father, glorify Your Name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, "I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again." )

(Malachi 1:10-12) Oh that there were one among you who would shut the doors, that you might not kindle fire on My altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, says YHWH of hosts, and I will not accept an offering from your hand. For from the rising of the sun to its setting My Name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to My Name, and a pure offering. For My Name will be great among the nations, says the YHWH of hosts. But you profane it when you say that the Lord's table is polluted, and its fruit, that is, its food may be despised.

(Special Note: How is it that they do this?  How do they say His Table is polluted?  By the destruction of the Temple and the tearing apart of the Priesthood and have been cut off from all of those physical things, like the Temple, the Ark and all of the implements of physical service, all missing but still in their hearts, become their idol of worship, separating them from YaHWeh. The Idol of their Hearts, as expressed in Ezekiel 14:3, is grounded in the physical, forgetting that these objects were only representative of the Spirit and the Spiritual.  Temple worshipers, desiring what is written on the stone of their flesh.  They are held captive in their own broken religion and in mouning and groaning over the physical they despise the Truth, which would bring them to their Redeemer and Savior -- while we those called to YaHshua groan for the Heavenly things - 2 Cor 5:2-5 & Rom 8:23)

What has this to do with our Savior's Name? Everything, because His Name is the Name the Orthodox and Ultra Orthodox Jew see the name of thei God, and to apply this as it is applied in the New Covenant, pointing toward a particular individual is abhorrent to them, no matter what the Scriptures say or reveal. We should know that this practice of covering His Name, of trying to block anyone in its use began after the Second Temple was destroyed by Rome -- even before that, this name had special meaning but it would be a blaspheme, among the jews of that first century, to allow for anyone to actually apply this name, by definition to themselves as YaHshua (Joshua) did on many occasions.  It is for this reason they looked for ways to dispose of Him, to kill Him for this sacrilege (John 10:30-31).

You would think the religious Jews would read what we read from their own writings, from the Torah and the Prophets, and realize this error in their thinking, but what happens is the ultra religious, but the truth is that the Orthodox and the Ultra Orthodox Jews do not spend much time in the Writings and the Prophets of the Bible as we know it. In fact, in some discussions I have had with the Ultra side, I have been told that the Torah of Moses is only a small sampling of the Oral Torah, which is what they study as opposed to the Hebrew Bible the Christians read, and even share with the lay members of the Jewish communities, mostly bound by traditions as opposed to the what is written in the word.  This pushing aside Moses in favor of the Talmuds of Babylon and Jerusalem actually makes Ultra Orthodox Jew  Biblically ignorant, studying only the Talmuds, the supposed writings of the Oral Torah, a Torah even taught to Adam, not by God, no but by a groups or Super Rabbis. That's right, and this bears repeating, they ignore much of the Old Covenant the Christians nibble at, in favor of the Written Oral Torah which is found in the writings they call the Jerusalem Talmud and also another called the Babylonian Talmud which are writings supposedly from inspired Super Rabbis from the past. Some even teach that it is these Super Rabbis that taught Adam and Eve -- I am not kidding, if this is new to you, that is understandable, but know this, many of the Christian teachers of authority have either ignored this or use it in their own teachings about the Angels having originally tried to help mankind, even going so far as to marry human women.  These Jews on the Orthodox side should be the last authority any Christian or believer should listen to, and with good Biblical reason, as we read -- please my fellow servants, read the following carefully and if time premits go to the whole Chapter quoted and read it for a deeper understanding, but here is what is said about those to whom so many turn to or quote as experts in His Word, to their own hurt:

(Eze 14:7-8) For everyone of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel, who separates himself from Me, and takes his idols into his heart, and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet to inquire for himself of Me; I YaHWeH will answer him by Myself: and I will set My face against that man, and will make him an astonishment, for a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of My people; and you shall know that I am YaHWeH. (Idol of their heart, or mind, even spirit?  the Temple and the writings on stone all built on and in the physical.  The Temple is gone, but remains the Idol of their hearts)

(Luke 20:17)  And He (YaHshua) beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

An Idol does not have to be one you can actually see.  An Idol of the heart, standing between a person's own desires or teachings or fanciful idea and the Stone that become a stumbling block, the very stone that is to become the Corner Stone of the True Temple.  Read all of Ezekiel chapter 14 and you will see what their God and our God has determined.  You will read more about this Idol of the Heart.  This is not to say the Christian believers are any better either and it is something all of us need to be aware of.  You can hear the tone, YaHWeH is a little bit angry with those who are practicing this kind of Idolatry and then go to the teachers to ask about Him, about YaHWeH, someone they should have already embraced but have not.  He will grind them down.  These we may use as a source in our studies but we must take care and not use them as our guides.  They are far from the authority on Him, they have rejected Him and have little understanding.  Ever learning but never able to come to the Truth -- 2 Tim 3:7.  Not to forget the warning about the Jewish Fables -- Titus 1:14.

Those devout, overly religioous of the Jewish community, the Orthodox and Ultra Orthodox spend most of their time studying the Oral (now written) Talmuds, filled with fables and myths even delving into the arts of black magic, which, I am told, the Super Rabbis can use for good because they knew how to use it properly.  On the one hand they deny our Savior, YaHshua did any real miracles at all, then in another voice they will say that all the miracles He did were done by the Black Arts, a Magic only a properly trained Rabbi is privileged to use.  They, accuse our Savior of using this black magic to heal people, but because He was never one of them, His use was not for good, and they even accused Him of using demons, even the Devil himself, to carry out the healings their fathers had witnessed -- Mt 12:24.  On the one hand they deny that He healed anyone but on the other they accuse Him of using Black Magic, something their privileged Rabbis and healers among them were allowed to use.  No wonder our Lord and Savior, YaHshua, called them hypocrites.

I have been called anti semetic for speaking the truth.  Under the New Covenant there is neither Jew nor Greek and yet the Christian communities and others who proclaim the Holy Book of the Hebrews and the inspired words of the New Covenant writers as theirs, divide up into separate camps, dividing the House that us supposed to be united.  Either they are misled or misguided or in denial, or neither are the Body of the Savior on Earth, united by One Spirit.  Those who make such charges do not want to hear the truth, and that is understandable, when we read from the word --

(2Th 2:11)  And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
(Tit 1:13)  This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
(Tit 1:14)  Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

These religious people on the Jewish side, followers of the Super Rabbis Oral traditions will do just about anything to prevent the use of the Name of the God of Israel and circumvent any efforts at making any kind of connection to our Savior, YaHshua. When forced to use a name in reference to our Messiah they drop letters as do those in the Messianic movement and most in the Christian communities, if ever they use a name other than the false name Jesus, they use Yeshua, and some Y'shua.  For them YaHshua becomes Y'shua, or Yeshua, or even occasionally, Y-shua. Some of the more intimidated and angry Jews twist the word, yeshua into an insult, as this word is close to a nasty derogatory remark -- discussed later in the article -- just know, for now, that missing letters can and do turn words and names into other meanings.

The Real Missing Link
What is missing in transmission from "HaShem" (means The Name) is a key part of the original Name of our Creator?  The Letter H, and integral part of His Holy Name.  I personally believe that this is purposely done to avoid saying His Name, in effect treating His Name as if it were of heathen, or pagan origins, by profaning His Name in this way, they think they are keeping it safe for themselves.

As followers of YaHshua  we are instructed not to swear on anything (Matt 5:34), especially not on or by His Holy Name, but in the Torah the instruction is clear, concerning those of the Jewish faith, they are to "swear by His Name" (Deut 10:20). At that time His Holy Name was the ultimate authority in all negotiations and contracts and treaties, but as they began to profane His Name, and to misuse and abuse the use of His Holy Name, we find a correction made in the revealing of the New Covenant to be made with Gentile and Jewish believers alike -- not to swear on anything, in Heaven above or the Earth below (Mt 5:33-34).  Things may not be abolished but things do change.  Just as they were commanded not to make mention of the names of any other gods (Ex 23:13).  Nowhere in the New Covenant do we find an objection to this, as we have read, found, in the words of our Savior in regards to swearing, or making oaths.  This should be a heads up to all those using His Holy Birth Name, that is referencing the Father and at the same time use any other name, least of all, any other name referring to any other God.

I know, there are those who take this to the extreme and tag words like Lords and Gods as names of some pagan god from the past and that a True Believer is committing a sin by using these terms, or words.  These terms, however, in the English and other languages, are generic terms referencing anything claiming to be a Diety, or, a god or lord.  These are Titles and terms used in communications and can be applied to just about anything -- these terms are not holy nor unholy.  The reality of it all is that ALL TITLES of Diety belong to Him in the First place.  Applying these terms to idols or whatever the thing of worship may be, the higher than Earth Titles are being used would then belong to the ONE and Only Creator and Savior, the Only Living God over all.  If these titles and terms are used as names, then those using these terms as names are totally wrong.  For example, a Church title, Church of God, is the Church of what?  Of God?  Which God?  Whose God?  On top of all this madness, there are those who will insist these are pagan names for pagan gods and to observe the commandment not to even speak a pagan god's name is sin, will then go and take a letter out, changing God to G-d, and Lord to L-rd, thinking they are safe.  First off, this is silly -- sorry if truth hurts -- by removing a vowel they have destroyed this pagan name?  By removing a vowel they have done nothing but make more perfect this term, if a name, they have turned it closer to its original, far from destroying it and continuing to use it, they have made it better.  How?  The original lettering for GOD if a name, is GD, the O being a vowel and not really part of the name.  the Same with LORD -- remove the vowel and you have LRD, the original, that is, if it is a name.  Like the Name of the God of Israel, our God and Savior, YaHWeH, is originally, YHWH.  This is called, Shooting one's self in the foot.  To top this off, if those seeking to be more than righteous and avoid breaking this one of 613 Torah commandments then you must stop using these terms, not partially, but completely, something they are not doing, they are, technically circumventing the Law they say they are honoring.  But what happens is that these teachers find that they cannot effectively communicate with the masses if they were to do this.  Even in the reading of their own bibles would become difficult.

So, what is the point, as compared to the command to swear on His Name and then our Savior tells us not to?  And then the command not to mention a pagan name, also found in the Old Covenant, but our Lord YaHshua making no mention in correcting or circumventing that command?   You should see it by now, it is using the false and pagan name JESUS, and other actual names in referring to false gods and objects of worship that we should avoid.  Apparently, if you are a follower of YaHshua that is a Torah observant servant, then you are to swear on nothing, by passing the Torah commandment, but would still be obligated never to mention the false names of false gods, without excuse or work arounds like we see among many where God is turned into G-d.  As for me, I am waiting for the day our Savior is going to give us all a new and pure language, by which we will all give glory to Him with one voice (Zeph 3:9)-- but wait, one more revelation demonstrating the importance of using His Name and NOT mixing it with False Names or Names of other Gods.  Make no mistake, JESUS and YaHShua are not the same -- The Prophet Zephaniah (ZephanYaH) is delivering the words of YaHWeH against those who do such things -- this verse is right in the middle of a proclamation against the people of Judah and Jerusalem

(Zephaniah 1:5) And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by YaHWeH, and that swear by Malcham;   (Insert any name for Malcham, as some do pray, "In the name of Yeshua/Jesus, amen", so then they used to pray, "In the Name of YaHWeH/Malcham, amen" -- Malcham is also known as Molech, the Ammorite god to whom many of the Israelis aborted their first born, in the valley of Hinnom, later called Gehenna -- see Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew Definitions for this revelation)

Do you see?  Those who swear by, or worship in duality are not looked on with favor by our Creator and God.  Obviously those worshiping YaHWeH and Molech saw these two gods as equals, or as the Same God.   We see this very thing among many Christian teachers as they attempt to use His Name along with the false name JESUS -- they use them together in prayer and worship.  I have heard this done more and more common place.  Listen and you may notice this as well.

Israel use the Holy Name of the God that founded them, the God that Fathered them, the God that is their Creator and a God that says He acted as a Husband to both sisters, Israel and Judah, His wives -- Jer 31:32; Isa 54:5-8.

In the Hebrew/Jewish mishandling Of His glorious Name they have left something out, there is something missing. What is it?   Drum roll, please -- The "H" in the Name of the God of all things, is MISSING! The Name of our Creator and the God of Christian and Jew alike is YHWH (YaHWeH) and they leave the H out, they mutilate His Holy Name, they change it for something else, certainly better and closer than the bogus name Jesus, but still, they do violence to His Holy Name -- if they can't hide it well enough, they mutilate it. Our Savior said He came in the Name of His Father and His Name, the Name given Him at birth is YaHshua (YH-Shua) -- the Jew says His Name is Yeshua, and the Messianic people follow suit as do many others -- but, do you see it? The "H" is missing! There is no "e" in His Name, they supply that letter, it is an added vowel and so is the "a" letter.  Although some do spell it as Y'shua, still the "H" is missing.

I would challenge anyone, that is in support of His Name being changed to Yeshua, to explain why -- why drop the H?  I know the excuse those of the Ultra Orthodox Jews use, as mentioned previousl, and I have read all of the word play and the claims for the use of the false name, Jesus, and  yeshua, the main one being that Yeshua is merely the Aramaic expression and that they spoke this dialect of Hebrew in the first century. Yeshua?  Maybe, but not Jesus, as that name never existed before some 400 years ago, it is a new name.  Okay, so the people 2,000 years ago used the term "yeshua" every time they said something about "salvation", as we have seen in the Old Testament examples, like in Isaiah 12:2, where we see YaH and YaHWeH, the two Names, used along with the word, yeshua, as salvation and not as a name.  Yes, this term, Yeshua, was used on occasion with other meanings, like help, and deliver, even health, but most often as a term meaning only "salvation".  But when you restore His Name, YaH, restoring the missing H it becomes more than a definition or a word meaning "salvation", it then becomes, YaH is Salvation -- you could say that your yeshua is YaHshua or that YaHshua is your yeshua, or that YaH is your yeshua, better yet.   An Aramaic express indeed, how about Hebrew/Aramaic?  Certainly, this word used as a name is found among the Muslimsl, but since when does a New Covenant Believer start using the Muslims, the children of Ishmael as their authority?

There are some indications that among those in the upper ranks of the Jewish religious authority that in Hebrew the stand alone term, yeshua, means salvation and when, or if, used as a name the missing "H" is expected to be replaced, mentally, by the reader (this instruction is expressed in the Preface of "The Holy Scriptures, According to the Masoretic Text", page v, 1965 edition). This then would be pronounced as YaHshua, or YH-shua as the reader comes across this Name in Scripture, there is no "e" in the Name, ever, as the "e" is a vowel just as the "a" is and are supplied only as an assist in pronunciation -- now try pronouncing the YH as a stand alone Name and do you hear and e vowel or and a vowel.  My guess is that it will be the a, not the short e vowel. This is also true of the transliteration for the Old English transliteration for the Name Joshua, or as some who teach Biblical Hebrew say is YeHoshua, but they too are adding vowels at their own pleasure, maybe YHoshua, would be better or YaHoshua, or even YaHushua -- certainly all of these choices would be much better than the other lesser choices, but all are better than changing His Holy Name into something else, or trading His Holy Name in for a title only, and even calling the title a name.  The Hebrew Bible transliterates Joshua's Name, in the Torah, as Joshua and never and never as "yeshua", and to get to the Yehoshua, some of these experts insist on, you have to go to the Hebrew writing itself -- our Savior was given the same Name as Joshua of the Torah, which is the best Old English equivalent of the 16 th century, today we have, YaHshua -- but still, the translators of both Hebrew and English use the Old English Name, JOSHUA, add the H back into this Name and you come very close to the proper pronunciation. To drop the "H" is to change His Name -- changing from a name to a term, ends up to be not really a common name at all.

You hear a lot about the term "yeshua" being the Aramaic, as previous noted,  and this from the Jews For Jesus, and other Messianic groups. The language is closely associated with Arabic but this semetic dialect does not excuse the dropping of the "H", literally cutting His Holy Name in half. Some in the Jewish Messianic movement have taken this as their mantra mostly due to having been taught this from birth, even before coming to the Messiah of the New Covenant they hear about this Yeshua, not YaHshua, and it was and is natural for them to make this mistake, and so too, many outside of the Jewish Messianic movements. They too need to take steps to restore the proper Name of our Savior and Messiah, YaHshua, or YaHushua, or even YaHoshua, all a true representation of the Name He was given at Birth.  Not forgetting that the Old Covenant Bible contains the the Old English, Joshua, pronounced as Yahshua, making a person wonder why the English translators did not use this Name when composing the New Covenant?   Why use a completely different name when this name was, and is still available?  The Old English transliteration, JOSHUA, hasn't gone anywhere, so why not use it, if for no other reason than it is a close representation of our Savior's birth Name.  Of course, this would then lead some bright thinkers to wonder about updating this Old English to Modern English, and we just can't have that, can we.  it may all seem like a conspiracy -- and it is.  The Devils believe and as believers they do tremble -- James 2:19.  Oh, wait, you mean there is more to being saved than just believing?  Devils will not call on His Holy Name, they can't, it gets stuck in their throats, it jams them up, but they do believe, how can they not, they have seen everything and know that YaHshua is the Son, they have no doubt, only a waiting for their time of judgment to come.  Reading the instructions James is giving, is all about works, and that faith without works is dead.  What is this works?  Some translate it as deeds, others as doings, and for me it is conduct.  Those who want to restore the Torah of Stone, point to these verse in support of their teachings for all to return to the Old Covenant, and doing this or that as the works of Torah.

It is understood that James, the Jerusalem group leader, was always in support of the Jewish way to the Messiah and in his day the Temple and the Old Covenant system was still in place.  Even knowing this, James, a staunch believer in Torah obedience, never once mentions the Torah as being the Works he is endorsing.  It would have been easy for him to have just said, obey the Law, obey Torah, simple as that, but he does not.  Unfortunately when we think of Work we picture our Labors, mostly for earning wages or favor.  The works of a believer is to live a moral, clean life, obedient to civil authority, no matter under which regime a believer might live.  YaHshua corrected many of the physical applications of the Old Covenant, while it was still enforceable -- remember, after He went to the Cross for us a New way, a New covenant was introduced.

It is not the purpose of this study to cover how a believer should live.  But, just a short narrative about a conflict that seems to be continuing to this very day, and does surround our Savior's proper Identity.  Just bear with me for just a couple of minutes, and feel free to agree or not to agree as we touch on this touchy subject, to obey Torah or not?   It is my understanding that Jewish believer were never commanded to stop being Jewish and Gentiles were not told to become Jewish.  In the Body both as seen equally.  But, mankind being of a nature with only partial understanding tend to do just the opposite of what is meant. Even in the First Century believer there were those Jewish believers, like James and some believing Rabbis and Elders, originally thought Gentiles should all comply with the Old Testament Commands, obedient to Torah, but this was settled at a meeting that was recorded and posted for us to see in Acts chapter 15.  This council composed of Jewish leaders listened to the evidence as the Holy Spirit was making it known and it was decided that the Gentile believers do not have to become Jews nor live like Torah believers.  Remember, when Acts 15 was taking place the Temple was still standing, the Old Covenant, the Levitical Priesthood, the Holy days, all still in place and this decision came down that Gentile Believers would only have a couple of restrictions -- to live moral lives, to be sexually clean, not to bow to idols, and not to drink the blood of animals.  The latter being something the pagans practiced regularly, along with great sexual crazed parties and worshiping every thing made of stones and wood, and nature.  And we should not forget, as mentioned, that we are Living in the Times of the Gentiles, awaiting the Return of our Lord and Savior, YaHshua -- Luke 21:24.

Yeshua as a Name
In the name, Yeshua, we see a distortion of His true name, YaHshua, and this distortion has a different meanings for the Jewish reader.

According to the Jewish New Testament Commentary, the name Yeshu is, “…a kind of coded incantation against Christian evangelism. Moreover, since Yeshua came to be regarded in non-Messianic Judaism as a false prophet, blasphemer and idolater wrongly being worshiped as God, and since the Torah says, ‘You shall not even pronounce the names of their gods’, the Messiah’s name was purposely mispronounced.” (Emphasis added)

And from The Complete Jewish New Testament Bible - the Notes under Matthew 1:21: "She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Yeshua, [which means ‘Adonai saves,’] because he will save his people from their sins.

[The Hebrew word for "he will save" is "yoshia'" which has the same Hebrew root (yud-shin-'ayin) as the name Yeshua (yud-shin-vav-'ayin). Thus the Messiah's name is explained on the basis of what he will do. Etymologically the name Yeshua' is a con- traction of the Hebrew name Y'hoshua' (English "Joshua"), which means "YHVH saves." It is also the masculine form of the Hebrew word "yeshu'ah" which means "salvation."] (Emphaisi added)

This is just one example of many demonstrating that those attempting to restore the Aramaic and Hebrew Roots of the Faith have made their own mistakes.  This admission is not uncommon, and I believe they do not even see what they are writing, and they certainly do not hear it.  Those of the Christian works say that the title, yeshua, as a name, Yeshua, is a Contraction of a larger Name as well.  By dropping just one letter they make it a contraction of Y'Hoshua, or YaHushua.  They both, make the same mistake by dropping the H, without cause.  Why drop it?  If you are going to drop something and make it a real contraction then drop all the vowels.  Both sides, one supporting the Aramaic Original and the other supporting the Greek Original and even those supporting the English Original -- not joking, there is a movement about the English KJV being the ONLY truly inspired writings from Heaven, sad, but true.

Isn’t it odd, the Jewish scholars, the scribes, and Rabbis use a name they say is too Holy to say, too holy to USE and yet we find this name, Yeshua, throughout much of their writings, or in the Messianic Jewish translations of the Gospel -- what happened to, too holy to mention?  Unless, of course, that is not really His Name, and those in charge know it -- this would solve a problem for them, wouldn't it?  Of course the Christian Bible experts are without excuse, or they are simply blind, which may be the case.

Here is another little bit of information, something so obvious and right in front of everyone, but invisible -- and what would this be?  How about the name of today's Israeli Prime Minister, NetanYaHu, and there it is, the Name of the One True God.  If you look you will find His Name everywhere, as if it is embedded into all languages, into all the Earth, and the greater populations are ignorant to this because of the false teachers or the blind teachers leading each other around in circles.  Take a look at a map of Iraq and you will find names, lots of names, up and down the Euphrates River, bearing His Name.  Remember, it is along the Euphrates river the people of Judah spent 70 years in captivity.  Look at all of the names of the Prophets, and realize that all of those names ending in "iah", are pronounced as YaH, right?  And when we hear the praise of Hallelujah, isn't it pronounced as Hallelu YaH?  People unknowingly singing praises to His Name -- His Holy Name is not hidden, it is ignored and the Jewish scholars are doing nothing to wake everyone up, otherwise, they might have to repent.   Here is a sample verse to make this point.  Notice how many time His Name is used in this one verse, starting with the Prophets name, Zephaniah or Zephanyah --

(Zephaniah 1:1) The word of YaHWeH which came to Zephaniah, the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah (YaHudah).

How many times did you say His Name?  Let's take this little exercise bit further -- let's see what each of these names are saying -- also, we do not have to wonder if these are names, do we?  We will take each name and find the definition for each in the Strong's Hebrew Dictionary, each name followed by its definition:

Zephaniah: YaH has secreted or treasured -- Treasured is YaH = ZephanYaH
Gedaliah: YaH has become great or is great -- Great is YaH = GedalYaH
Amariah: YaH has said or promised -- So says YaH = AmarYaH
Hezekiah: YaH is my strength -- My strength is YaH = HezekYaH
Josiah: YaH heals or found -- My Healer, my founder is YaH = YosYaH

Now would be a good time to take a break, get something to drink, mull over what you have been introduced to.  But that is up to you.  Continuing --

Isn’t it odd they, those seeking to obey the Torah of stone, are commanded not to mention the names of a false god, the gods of the gentiles, but cannot see how they are treating His Name equally in the same manner, by avoiding it too -- do not mention the names of other god, oh, and not our God either -- can't they see this? And to many of the Jewish faith, they see this Yeshua (Jesus) as a false god of the gentiles. To repeat; this is exactly how Yeshua is seen -- a god of the Gentiles, of the Gentile Christians, and they use it, say it and tell Gentiles this was and is His Name -- who is fooling who? It is their “catch 22” and they have a problem in not saying or using His Name and not using the name of other gods so they change it and sell it to the Gentiles but in doing this they again violate the command of ignoring false names as well as His true and Holy Name by their refusal to use even the Name of the God they claim is theirs -- they fail to declare it, to proclaim His Name to the nations. By treating His Holy Name equally to that of pagan names, by not mentioning His Name as they are to not mention pagan names, they have equalized and made the Name of OUR God and Creator with pagan, and false names.

They refer to the name JESUS, or as some pronounce it, Heyzeus, they go against the Torah command, and they do this too by using or saying Yeshua, as a name, and in this they have helped create another god, by another name -- a name not His Name (John 5:43). How is this done, how do they accomplish this? First, they do not supply the full Name of the God of Israel, keeping it away from their own people as well as the Gentile.  Second they change the Name associated with the Messiah of the New Testament just enough to still be a Jewish name, after all, this man was a Jew, but not delivering THE NAME (Ha Shem) of our Messiah in whole, by cutting out the H.  This way they have succeeded in keeping the Name that literally declares our Heavenly Father hidden.  Denying the use of His Name to their own people, while claiming to be the chosen of HaShem (The Name).  No where in Scripture is there a commandment not to use His Name, only a warning not to abuse His Name but never to stop using or calling on Him by His Name.  And certainly no command to ignore or deny or change the Name of our Savior, the first representative of the New Covenant.  Imagine, millions being baptized into a name, a name that is not His Name?  Go to your Pastors and Priests and ask them about this.  They will pat you on your pointy little head, no doubt.  Don't let them off the hook -- if the Name of our Savior is in the Bible, in the Old Covenant, translated as JOSHUA, from the Old English, then why are they preaching in the bogus name, JESUS?  Why isn't the Name of our Creator properly presented in the New Covenant Writings when it is all over the Old Covenant, found in names of others, just like it is in our Savior's Name, YaHshua?

Jewish View of YaHshua
The Jew/Hebrews of modern scholarship do not deny YaHshua existed, as some ignorant critics still cling to, no, he is not denied as a man as a famous Rabbi of Jewish origin. What they deny is that he was anything more than this, a Rabbi having fallen on hard times, a magician of the arts preforming miracles by magic, etc. They are obliged not to use or say the name Jesus, a god of the Gentiles, and they hesitate to use His Hebrew name so they use what is defined as an Aramaic name, or equivalent, Yeshua. This name, however, is associated with a man they call a false teacher and liar a worker of black magic when speaking of our Savior, whom they admit their fathers executed. On the one hand, and this is again odd, when debating the ultra Orthodox Jews, they will argue He, the Christian Messiah, never existed but is a fable made up -- then two sentences later they will say all of the miracles He preformed were done by black magic. Odd, right, denial then admission, and in this, those of the Jewish sects, witness against themselves.

These super religious Jews, and some in among the Christians too, wish to avoid the use of the name, YaHshua, or YaHushua if at all possible. They are happy to let the Gentiles use Yeshua even supporting this with their own modern translation of the Hebrew Scriptures, translating a name pronounced as YaH-shoo-ah but written then writing it as Yeshua.

Again, if the term, as found in the Hebrew Dictionary H3442, is used as a name, the reader is to mentally supply the missing "H" (The Holy Scriptures According to the Masoretic Text, published by the Jewish Publication Society, Pg V of the Preface), and if, on the other hand this term is not used as a name it remains without the "H", it is then merely a term meaning "salvation". Somewhere along the line, as a Name, the "H" is to be restored, and if only mentally it becomes a Name, His Name -- YaH is Salvation, or YaHshua -- the very Name our Savior came in, YaHushua if you prefer.

They Say, It is the Short Form -- The Insult
When backed into the corner of this argument they, being the Ultra Jew and some of the Messianic movement, say the Aramaic, Yeshua, is the "short form" of His complete Name. Why do you suppose they then say this -- the name Yeshua is a "short form"? To keep from admitting the error they have fallen into and this comes out only after they cannot answer the question of WHY and they fail to override what Scripture says itself. They work very hard to not use His true Identity to avoid using the Name that is above every Name. Even the Messianic Jews know this is not a complete name, but it is so ingrained in their thinking they cannot shake it, just like the Christians have trouble shaking the false name, JESUS. You can also see that Yeshua, as a name, is a pretty long "short form", and seems to me to be a very flimsy argument, but this argument is only used when all of their other arguments fall.

They admit, by claiming it to be a "short form", that this is only part of His Name. When a Jewish person wants or needs to communicate this name it is, in most cases, pronounced, Yeshu (Yes ua) and is actually an insult. According to the Jewish New Testament Commentary states, “…Yeshu is also an acronym consisting of the first letters of the Hebrew insult, “Yumach sh’mo v’zikhro” (“May his name and memory be blotted out…)”. We can then see the insult intended when the Hebrew says, Yeshu. When the incomplete Name used by many Christians and Jewish Messianic it is meant to be an insult, like their little secret. By restoring the missing letter to this Name we have YeHshua, or YaHshua and the suggested insult is removed completely.

Strong's Hebrew Dictionary to the Rescue
An earlier volume of Strong's Hebrew Dictionary supplies the pronunciation of "yeshua" as YaH-shoo-ah. Also, this is the pronunciation supplied by the Strong's numbering system found in the popular bible software, e-sword. H3442 - yeshua -- yah-shoo-ua or yah-shoo-ah.

When The Name or HaShem, YHWH, is used by many, even the Messianic Jews, it is replaced with the title Adonay, or Adonai, which means or is the same as the English use of the title, LORD, in all caps, and Lord and lord. The Jewish Publication Society (JPS), in the Preface of their English translation, readily admit to following the traditions of the King James translators in the use of names -- how convenient (Source: The New JPS Translation According to The Traditional Hebrew Text - Preface pages XV-XVii), and you will also read how much the Jewish translators relied upon the Greek Septuagint. Why? Because they do not have the original Hebrew Writings, only partials. No one has the stone upon which Moses wrote, no one has the writings in their original form.  And here is a strang bit of information:  The Christian translators do not have the Orginals from which they translated either.  And there are no Original Greek either.  Yes, I know, the translators and others mention the Original Greek, all the time, but there is no Original Greek New Testament bibles.  The King James Version comes from a collection of writings and copies of writings and source found in bits and pieces from all over the place, some from the Middle East or from private collections.  On, and, the King James translation Originals are also missing, strange but true.  (A good source about all of this is, A Visual History of the King James Bible, by, Donald L. Brake).

HaShem or, The Name
You have noticed the term, HaShem, used throughout this article it is a Hebrew term meaning, The Name. Many Jewish translations in the Messianic Jewish movement use this word or saying, HaShem, in place of the Sacred Name, YHWH. HaShem is not a name, it is a statement and merely another method used in avoiding the use of what they think their Elohim's Name is. To repeat, HaShem is Hebrew for saying "The Name", it is not a name, and definitely not His Name, as some have suggested and appears in some modern Jewish translations as a replacement for His Holy Name. An example of this usage can be seen in The Stone Edition of the Tanach, published by, Mesorah Publications, ltd., edited by Rabbi Nosson Scherman -- (also the Art Scroll edition) -- sample quote:

Genesis 2:8 - HASHEM God planted a garden in Eden, to the east, and placed there the man whom He had formed. And HASHEM God caused to sprout from the ground every tree that was pleasing to the sight and good for food; also the Tree of Life in the midst of the garden, and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Bad

This avoidance of using His glorified Name, exchanging for lesser terms and titles is sad indeed. Knowing that the term, HASHEM, means "The Name" you would read the beginning of verse 8 as, "The Name God planted a garden in Eden..." This would almost mean the translators of this Jewish translation are saying HIS Name is "GOD" -- can it get any stranger than this?

I pray this study article will be of encouragement and will inspire you to study the word for yourself. Peter told us what to do and it was not to lay up arms, or food stores or digging holes in the ground to hide but to continue in the Word and grow in the knowledge of our Lord, YaHshua.  Noah had his Ark and escaped the coming Flood.  We could do the same, and there is certainly nothing wrong with being prepared, but in this last age to come, our Ark of deliverance, of salvation is YaHshua Himself, in Him and through Him and by Him we have access to the Father.  No one is going to escape what is to come, all will be effected.  We do not need to be caught off gaurd and as we prepare, let us grow in knowledge about Him.

(2Pe 3:16-18) As also in all his (Paul's) epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest (twist), as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. You therefore, beloved, seeing you know these things before, beware lest you also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour YaHshua the Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Transliterations -- a final thought
We should understand something concerning the transliteration of names as opposed to translation -- The Hebrew bible known as the ArtScroll Tanach, Stone Edition, quoted from earlier, contains the Torah as well as the Writings and the Prophets, what the Christians refer to as the Old Testament. This is a beautiful work and favors using the term, HASHEM (meaning, The Name) in place of the actual Name of our Creator, YHWH. This term, HASHEM, is this translations substitute and when read it is easily mistaken for a "name", when it is not a name at all. "Ha Shem" is the transliteration for the translation, "The Name". HaShem means, "the Name" and nothing more and is used in place of YHWH, the Name of our Creator. This is a perfect example of a translation as opposed to a transliteration. YHWH, is the transliteration of the Hebrew Name of our Creator, as revealed to Moses. It is the representation of the Hebrew into the English giving us the letter for letter pronunciation. So, the transliteration, YHWH, with the help of a couple of "vowels" is pronounced as YaHWeH -- not HaShem. Like the English translators, the Hebrew translators have substituted a term in avoiding the use of the Name given to Moses for all generations to remember (Ex 3:15, remember, LORD is supposed to be YHWH). The Creator God, YHWH, says all generations are to know Him by this Name, YHWH, and what do men do, they discard the Name for a term or title -- they do just the opposite.

The English translators substitute the term, or title, LORD, and use it as a name and most Christians are ignorant of this and use the term, LORD, as a name never questioning what His Name might really be, being satisfied His Name is "Lord" and "God", which is it neither -- these are generic terms or titles that can be applied to any god or lord. What a sad state this has all become. The glory of His Name is ignored, the Creator and the Savior of all the universe is forgotten for a title or false names that can be applied to any of the gods and even to Satan himself. After all, Satan is called the "god" of this world --

(2Co 4:4) The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God (the Father).

Without the knowledge of His Name you could read this verse as saying our Savior, the Messiah, is in the image of the "god of this age" which the context is plainly speaking of the Adversary, Satan. We know this is not true, our Messiah, the Christ, is not in the image of the "god of this age" but is in the image of the God in Heaven, our Heavenly Father whom He came to reveal and whose Name He came in (John 5:43).

(1Co 8:5-6) For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"), yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, YaHshua the Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.

Notice the reasoning, that even if there were other gods, there would still only be One God for us, and that would be God the Father.  He is not just any old god, or lord, just as our Savior, YaHshua, is not just any old savior or lord, or god.  YaHshua is part of God the Father, from before His birth into the flesh and after as well.  YaHshua is given a name and that name was not, "lord, and not "god" and not "Jesus", and not an Aramaic, or Arabic equivalent, like Yeshua. He was named YaHshua (Old English transliteration, Joshua) and He told us that He came in His Father's Name (John 5:43, John 17:12), and we are instructed later, by Peter, that there is no other Name by which we MUST be saved --

(Act 4:12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other Name under heaven given (found) among men, whereby we must be saved.

For an opposing opinion go to -- Was YaHshua the Real Name of Jesus?

Final Word:  I realize I have used words like, Jew, and Jewish, but this has been in connection with the Orthodox and Ultra Orthodox members of the Jewish community.  Among the Jewish people are some of the brightest minds on th planet. Any negative comments are merely to prove a point, that even some of the best can be deceived or fooled into teaching things that are simply not true.  Our Creator, our Savior has a special place in His heart for the Jewish people, and it is in His plan to deliver them, all of them.  YaHshua, our Savior was of Jewish decent, in the flesh, and even many Gentiles and nations of Gentiles could trace their beginnings back to Abraham.  Think about it.  Abraham had a son, Isaac and from this one son came, Jacob and from Jacob the 12 (13?) tribes that are now spread out all over the world.  The USA has the highest population of Jewish people outside of Modern Israel.  But it does not end there.  Before Isaac was born, Sarah encouraged her husband Abraham to take her Hand Maid to bear her a child.  This was allowed for women who were considered barren could have a child by proxy through another.  In following this custom Hagar was offered to Abraham to gain a son, and so it was.  Hagar has a son and calls his name, Ishmael.  Ismael becomes the father of all Arabic people, an uncountable number, or so it might seem.  But it does not end there.  After Sarah dies Abraham takes another wife, Keturah, and has six sons by her.  Abraham did not want any conflicts between his sons and Isaac, because it was Isaac he intended to inherit the Promise of YaHWeH, his God.  He gave these sons their part in their inheritance and sent them away, most of them moving to the East.  YaHWeH said that Abraham was to be a father of many nations, and so he is the father of many nations, nations that have filled the earth -- Genesis 17:4-5; 16:17; 17:20; 25:1-6 -- those verse explain it all.  One day the Jewish people will be the most blessed people on the face of the Earth -- HalleluYah!
