Angels good and bad

Good and Really Bad Angels

My Story:

Less than a year after I was called and being unable to get my wife or my dad and mom, or her parents to see what I now saw as the answer to all of mankinds problems and a future so wonderful, everyone should want it and turn to the Messiah without question.  I tried to share my new understanding.  They all shushed me, patted me on my little head and waited for me to come out of this fascination with all things Biblical.  No own would listen. No one would hear me.  So, I packed my bag, got in my truck and headed south to a different state, in pursuit of doing my Savior's will.

From Oregon I travel into California, and stopped at San Jose.  I was headed for LA, but stopping in San Jose to catch my breath and to let everyone back home, the home I left that I was fine.  One thing was for sure, they were no longer laughing at me and they all realized that this was serious business and I was not nuts -- well, they may have continued to think I was, but now the seriousness of what I was trying to do, to answer the Call, became a real wake up call.  I contacted a local pastor to a Church I had gained interest in, and the Pastor advised me to bring my wife down, if she was willing and continue on my path but allow her the opportunity to join me.  So, I did, I contacted her about moving to San Jose on the condition I could get a job.

I had worked as an assistant manager for a major Grocery chain in Oregon and was still a Union member in good standing.  I went to the Local Union office to see about a job.  I entered the front office and there was an near chest high counter, and behing the counter on the back wall was a series of cubby hole slots for mail or notes or some sort of sorting.  A man had his back to me, as he was checking these letter boxes out, sorting or something.  I waited for him to notice men.  He was balding, had glasses on, white, short sleeve shirt, with striped tie, brown belt and gray slacks, and a little on the stocky side.  He turned and asked if he could help me.  I merely said, Yes, and asked if there were any jobs available.  Having come from Oregon I did not know the procedure the Union followed in California.  Later I would find out that jobs were not gained or handed out from the Union office, all of the hiring took place at the store or market level.  I was unaware of that, thinking the more advanced California society would have a better organization in handling the labor force, but no.  But, at the time I had no clue, so, here I stood, asking this slightly balding man for directions to a job as a clerk at one of the Grocery stores.

This gentleman took a piece of paper and wrote out an address and a name and told me to go there.  I thank him and left.  I went straight to the market and met the manager in his office.  He was sitting at his desk when I knocked on the open door jam.  I said I had come for the Job.  He looked at me funny like, and said that he had just barely hung the phone up.  And with a puzzled look, like he wanted to ask me a question, but he did not, he just kind of shook his head and invited me to sit down and began interviewing me for the position he wanted to fill.  He hired me on the spot.  I told him my situation about moving from Oregon and needing to get my wife move down, and asked for an extra week before starting.  He told me that would not be a problem, and to show up for work on the second Monday.  It was all so fantastic.  Not in town three days and I had a job.  I went straight back to the Union office to thank the man behind the counter.  I walked in and a large black lady was coming from a door leading to a back room, and through that open door I could see several desks and ladies working.  This lady, seemed bothered that I was in the foyer at the counter and asked what i wanted.  I told her I wanted to thank the man that had sent me out on the job.  She looked at me like some kind of idot and said that there is no man working the counter that day or any day.  I discribe the man and she told me no such person works in that office.

I was tempted for just a moment, to argue with her, but could see that my word would fall on deaf ears, and because she went right back into that back room, closing the door behind her.  I stood there alone for a moment and then thank God and rejoiced in my heart and literally danced out of that building to my truck and back to the motel I was staying and began making plans to move my wife down to San Jose.

That is my angel story.  Afte some biblical reading and study, I began to see how little angels are spoken of in a discriptive way.  Angels are mentioned, to be sure, a lot, from one end of Scripture to another, but very little real information.  Only two angels are even named, Michael and Gabriel.  Yet, in one important heads up, we are told that many believers had entertained angels without realizing it.  What is this entertaining?  Everything from sharing a drink, a coversation to have sharing a meal.

(Heb 13:2) Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for in doing so, some have entertained angels without knowing it.

A lot can be gleaned from this single, heads up from Paul.  Apparently, the angels Paul mentions look just like everyday people.  Not all angels, of course, but enough have conversed and shared in some way as strangers to the believer or believers.  Maybe they can appear as balding middle aged men wearing gold framed glasses, in a white shirt and striped tie?

Other Angelic Encounters

We have an account in the old Testament about angels that met with Abraham, and they sat down and had a meal with him. He, however, recognized these human appearing men as angels.  After the meal two of these angels went off to collect Lot and his family out of Sodom, while the third angel had a conversation about who and who would not be destroyed for the evil that had grown to such a level, among the plains people, the virtually none were worth saving.

(Gen 18:1-4)  And YaHWeH appeared unto him (Abraham) in the plains of Mamre: as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:

From the context throughout the rest of Genesis chapter 18, we can see that Abraham is talking to YaHWeH Himself.  Many times YaHWeH would send His Angel, you know, His personal representative, to give a message, in most cases, to a prophet, or to answer a prayer.  YaHWeH and two others, who are not discribed or named, but Abraham sees them as men.  This encounter is very physical in nature, and when these three get up to go on their way, Abraham stands in front YaHWeH and to ask more questions, while the other two walk on toward Sodom.  Later in the account, we see that only those two Angels arrived at Sodom and Lot took them in.  While both Lot and Abraham seemed to recognize these beings, as Angels, not of this world, they treated them as men, with the same respect they would show to any stranger traveling along the way.  Foot washing, dusting off, sitting down to a meal and offered a place to for the night.

There is another kind of Angel encounter, one that seems to appeal to the angel worshipers, even though the Scripture is clear about how we are to act toward strangers, and even toward and encounter where the Angel reveals his Glory.  We see such and encounter with John in the Book of Revelation.

(Rev 15:6)  And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.

This is what John sees, mighty angels bearing the seven plagues to be poured out.  See how they are dressed.  In the encounter with Abraham and Lot, they appeared as ordinary men, dressed in a similar manner to Abraham and Lot, dressed for the time period.  However, in thie Heavenly vision John sees them dessed in extremely white clothing, and their chest and waist wrapped in some kind of gold girdles, most like a series of belts wrapped around.  This vision is very similar to the vision John is treated to in the very beginning of the visions John will be given -- Revelation 1:13, and individual is identified as the Savior Himself, in His present Glory.  Of course, we also know that our Savior, YaHshua, appeared among this Disciples before Pentecost in the flesh and the bone, without blood or water, yet He ate and drank with them -- Luke 24:36-43, John 21:12-14, Acts 1:3.  He appeared to them as physical as they but with exceptional ability.  He was able to appear and disappear while in their misdst -- His abilities certainly appear to go far beyond the physical.  It is in Revelation 1, that we are treated to His Heavenly appearance, it would seem that He is more than Spirit.  And while Angels can and do appear in physical form, none of them has ever died and come back to life, like a rebrith, from one world to the next and back again, all the while, maintaining the glory of both.  He is true the First Fruit.

Still, later John ends up with more than a vision, he experiences a personal visit from a very powerful Angel.

(Rev 19:9)  And he said to me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said to me, These are the true sayings of God.
(Rev 19:10)  And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See you do it not: I am your fellowservant, and of your brethren that have the testimony of YaHshua: worship God (The Father): for the testimony of YaHshua is the Spirit of Prophecy.

This mighty Angel refused worship, and in fact, claimed to be a servant, like John, and all others who have the Testimony, the Confession in and of YaHshua as the Son of the Living God.  A Testimony, or confession, carried out in the Spirit of Prophecy -- in other words, spoken by the mouth, told, professed, and taught.  Does the Church today, teach YaHshua, or another?  Bottom line, an angel will not accept worship.  If you encounter and angel that will, then it is not a good Angel, it is a bad angel, it would be one of the Devils children or kind.  Does an angel appear to you as a benevolent boss, and even, later begin to give you commands?  Then it is not an Angel from Heaven, it is more likely, a demonic being, one of Satan's own.

A Continuing Study

More to come, but for now, that is my Angel story, my first one, a good angel story.  Later I would experience a bad angel story, but that is for later.
If any of my readers would like to share their Good Angel story I would be happy to publish your honest account, for the encouragement of fellow believers.  You can send your comments of your story to the email below.
